Doodlepad is a parent-guided learning service. Parents and guardians control family accounts and should supervise children using the service.

Information we collect

We collect information that you provide or create while using Doodlepad. This may include:

  • Account information such as your name, email address, and Google profile image when you choose Google sign-in.
  • Family and learner information such as a child's name, age, grade, learning preferences, and selected topics.
  • Learning activity such as plans, progress, practice results, worksheet prompts, generated worksheets, and worksheet feedback.
  • Basic technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as cookies, session identifiers, device or browser information, request logs, and error records.

How we use information

We use information to provide and personalize learning activities, save progress and worksheets, authenticate accounts, maintain security, troubleshoot problems, communicate about the service, and improve Doodlepad. We do not sell personal information or use learner information for targeted advertising.

Artificial intelligence

Doodlepad uses artificial intelligence to plan and generate educational materials. Worksheet prompts and related lesson content may be processed by Google Cloud's Vertex AI services. AI-generated materials can contain mistakes and should be reviewed by a parent or educator before use.

Service providers

We use service providers to operate Doodlepad, including Google Cloud for databases, private file storage, and AI processing; Vercel for application hosting, delivery and anonymous visit statistics; PostHog for product analytics; and Google for optional account sign-in. These providers process information on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. Information may be processed in Canada, the United States, or other locations where these providers operate.

Children's privacy

Doodlepad is designed for parent-guided learning. A parent or guardian should create and manage the account and consent to the collection and use of information for a child who cannot provide meaningful consent. Children should not independently submit contact details or other unnecessary personal information. Doodlepad does not provide public learner profiles or public posting features.

A parent or guardian may ask to review, correct, or delete information associated with their family or child by contacting us.

Cookies and sessions

We use cookies and similar session identifiers to keep users signed in, associate worksheets with the correct account or browser, remember family access, and protect the service. Doodlepad does not currently use these identifiers for targeted advertising.

Analytics

We measure how Doodlepad is used so we can improve it. On public pages we count anonymous visits and may record how visitors move through the page, with anything typed into forms hidden. Inside the signed-in app we record product events, such as creating a learning plan or a worksheet, linked to your account ID rather than your email. We do not record screen sessions inside the signed-in app, including Student mode. Analytics identifiers are stored in your browser's local storage, not in cookies, and are never used for advertising.

Storage, retention, and security

Account and learning records are stored in a private database, and generated worksheet files are stored in private cloud storage. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. We may delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed.

Your choices

You may choose not to use Google sign-in and may sign out at any time. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your account. Some information may be retained where reasonably required for legal, security, or operational purposes.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Doodlepad evolves. The current version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Material changes may also be communicated through the service.
